The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in the Peak District:
Duffield Station
We who have supported the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway since its inception, wish to see it protected as our legacy to future generations, for them to appreciate the Railway in its local environment, as being important to the fine old Peak District market town of Wirksworth in the lovely Ecclesbourne Valley, for the enjoyment of our many visitors from near and from far away and for our volunteers who have worked so hard to create and sustain it. The
Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Trust
The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Trust is a body whose purpose is to assist the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway by supporting the railway's activities along the line and at its stations, as well as supporting local economic and social initiatives in Wirksworth and in the valley's constituent communities.
The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway’s success depends upon its ability to provide an excellent day out for tourists to the Peak District and for rail enthusiasts and others interested in the historic railway experience. Maintaining and operating the longest heritage railway in Derbyshire is not an easy task and it requires considerable voluntary support and fundraising efforts in addition to its day to day operations and income.
The Trust is, on the one hand, a fundraising body for the support of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and the valley in general and we accept donations, income of all appropriate kinds, legacies and grants from awarding bodies as well as fundraising through our own means in and around the railway. On the other hand we allocate these funds to worthy projects around the railway and the immediate vicinity of the valley, often as a means of supporting a new initiative, pump-priming or to demonstrate encouragement for other groups, especially if involving young people.
